How to make the perfect matcha latte 🍵

Matcha is the ultimate superfood !

It’s crazy to think how popular matcha has become.

My mum is Japanese and used to make it for me growing up. Yes I was drinking it before it was cool.

A like to think of myself as a pioneer.

People used to think it was some strange drink back then but now everyone loves it!

I’m not surprised as it tastes amazing and the health benefits are incredible.

  1. Lower heart disease risk and blood pressure. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9939061/
  2. Reduces cancer risk https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6128439/

How does it have these incredible benefits?

Matcha is rich in catechins, a class of plant compounds in tea that act as natural antioxidants.

Antioxidants help stabilize harmful free radicals, compounds that can damage cells and cause chronic disease.

Matcha is grown in the shade. When the leaves are harvested, the catechin content is lower than in other types of green tea. However, when you dissolved in water, it produces 3 times more !

This is why you should opt for matcha rather than just normal green tea.

But not all matcha has the same benefits or tastes good!

You have to start with good ingredients. If you’re using rubbish quality matcha no matter what you do it won’t taste good and will have less health benefits.

You must always get Matcha from Japan 🇯🇵

All the highest quality comes from Kyoto or more specifically Uji which is 30 minutes

from Kyoto.

There are a few excellent brands but one that seems to be easy to get even from Amazon is Ippodo brand.

When I was in Japan last week it was impossible to buy as all the tourists were buying it up.

Opt to drink one cup a day and use about 4g of matcha powder (2 flat teaspoons)

This will give you the ultimate benefits.
